A classroom library app that knows who has which book
Scan your shelves once, then check books out to students by name. Pemberley remembers who has each one and reminds you when it’s due back.

Pemberley is a free iPhone app for running a classroom library. Scan your books by barcode, check them out to students by name with a due date, and see who has which book at a glance. Students don’t need an account.
Catalog the whole library in an afternoon
Point the scanner at each barcode and the book lands on your shelf, cover and all. The school Wi-Fi giving out? Keep scanning, and we’ll look the books up once you’re back online. Sort them into Lists that match your bins: picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, read-alouds.
Check out books by name
Lend a book to a student by typing their name. Add a due-back date if you like, and Pemberley reminds you that day. One screen shows everything that’s out, and a tap marks a book returned. Students don’t need an account, a phone or an email address.
Know what’s on your shelves
Search your library before you buy a second copy at the book fair. Your Want shelf keeps the books you’d love to add, and you can share it as a wishlist with an Amazon link for each one, ready for families who ask how they can help.

Questions
Do students need an account?
No. You type a student’s name when you lend a book. Students never sign in, and their names stay private to your account: they never appear on a public page.
Is it really free for teachers?
Yes, every feature, with no ads and no paid tier. Pemberley earns a small commission when someone buys a book through its Amazon links.
Can I keep a record of what was borrowed this year?
Yes. Returned loans stay in your history, and you can download your library and lending as a spreadsheet anytime.
